A PENZANCE man appeared in court charged with causing criminal damage to a fire extinguisher belonging to Devon and Cornwall Police. Merlin Quinnan, 20, of Alverton Road, Penzance, was jointly charged with a 17-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons.
Quinnan pleaded guilty to the offence, which took place in Penzance on October 17.
He also admitted being drunk and disorderly in Penalverne Drive.
He was given a conditional discharge for a year and told to pay £20 compensation and £65 costs and surcharge, with District Judge Diane Baker telling him he had taken part in a stupid drunken prank.
The youth, who pleaded guilty to the criminal damage offence, had his case adjourned to the youth court on November 16 when he faces trial for possessing an offensive weapon.
