ST IVES Visitor Information Centre (VIC) has released the town's first official tourism guide in three years.

Andy Dale, VIC manager, said: "The VIC has responded to numerous inquiries asking for a town guide.

"Many potential visitors were shocked that there was not a town guide to encourage people to visit the town."

The official town guide takes in St Ives and the surrounding area covering topics like art and culture, town history, the St Ives Archive, things to do and see, and, of course, accommodation.

The town guide was to be self-funded and an initial print run of 10,000 was announced.

However, the VIC has been able to increase the print run to 20,000 thanks to the support of local businesses.

It will be available free of charge and will be distributed to local businesses who wish to display the guide, to other tourist information centres in Cornwall and will be posted to all inquiring visitors in the UK.

For all potential visitors outside the UK, it can be viewed and downloaded via the website www.stivestic.co.uk

Any businesses that are interested in advertising in next year's guide can do so by contacting the visitor information centre on Facebook facebook.com/StIvesVisitorInformationCentre and Twitter at twitter.com/VisitStIves

Well done! It's a pleasure to go into the Tourist Information Centre in St. Ives. Shame the same can't be said for all of the Tourist Information Centres in Cornwall.
