TIRELESS fundraisers for West Cornwall Hospital banked more than £2,000 after their annual coffee morning.

More than £1,500 was raised from the event at the Queens Hotel in Penzance and a further £750 from a raffle for a painting of Land's End donated by artist Jeffrey Lawrence, with Barclays Bank matching the proceeds.

League of Friends secretary Gill Prodger said it was a splendid result.

Over the past year the League has donated more than £450,000 in cash and equipment to hospitals in west Cornwall including a £5,000 ECG machine, beds worth £8,000 for Poltair, £250,000 for the refurbishment of Medical Ward 2 at West Cornwall Hospital and £102,000 to renovate the reception area at the St Clare site.
