WORK on Hayle's first fire station is expected to get under way in April.
The £1 million plan, which was passed in September, will see emergency services work together from the one premises at Commercial Road.
The plans are part of an Emergency Cover Programme to replace the current fire stations at Camborne and Redruth with new facilities at Hayle and Tolvaddon.
Des Tidbury, chief fire officer of Cornwall Fire and Rescue, said it would be operational before the end of the year.
"A contractor has been appointed for both the Hayle and Tolvaddon sites and we are currently working through the detail with them."
He added that both stations would be fully completed before Camborne and Redruth fire stations were decommissioned.
