Woes led to stealing

LOSING his partner, his job and his home led a Penzance man to turn to crime, Truro magistrates were told.

George Low, aged 40, of Chirgwin Court, admitted stealing steaks from the town's Co-op on September 21 and clothing from Peacocks on October 17. He had a previous caution for shoplifting.

His solicitor Elliott Moore said Low began using heroin again due to his problems. He was conditionally discharged for a year and told to pay £95 in costs and compensation and a £15 victim surcharge.
