"Not a penny has been spent and that's what I want. Players who want to play for myself and this football club.

"Players know what I'm about and all my teams have been competitive. That's what I want here at Mousehole."

Quinn joked that an improvement on last season's lowly finish is the target, but having signed Vercesi, with many more to come, the Seagulls could have quite an impact on Division One West.

The former Hayle player-manager said: "There are some very good teams in this division but I don't see why we can't compete with them.

"Of course, there is still a lot of hard work ahead, but if I can get the players I want then it should be a good season.

"Darren (Woodard) has done an excellent job here and I think everybody at the club deserve a lot of credit for keeping the club going through some difficult times."

Quinn has confirmed that Vercesi will captain the club next season, having served the role so well at his former clubs.

He said: "Mark is a leader on the pitch and with those qualities he's the obvious choice to captain the side.

"What he also brings is a wealth of experience and that is going to be invaluable to those around him."

Despite Quinn's plans to strengthen his squad, he insists those already at the club will be given a chance to impress.

THE fixtures for the 2013/14 season were announced last week, throwing up a number of interesting opening day clashes.
