Tinners on cloud nine with huge win

ST JUST were the 's big winners in the Jolly's Combination League on Tuesday night, as the Tinners cruised to a 9-1 win at Falmouth Town.

Ashley Ellis scored four of the goals with Darren Steadman netting a brace and one apiece from Neil Curnow, Graham Stirr and Jack Willis.

St Just, Penryn Athletic and champions Illogan all have maximum points from their opening two games, while St Day lead the table on goal difference after a 6-2 win at Perranwell.

Elsewhere on Tuesday night Gerens James took his tally to eight goals in only two games but it wasn't enough to prevent Ludgvan slipping to a 6-4 defeat at Wendron.

Strikes from Tom Morris, Joel McWilliams and an own goal earned St Ives a 3-3 draw at home to league newcomers Redruth United, while Hayle lost 3-0 at home to Illogan.

Meanwhile in Division One West of the Carlsberg SWPL, Mousehole, who opened their campaign with a 1-0 home win over St Dennis on Saturday (see page 80), were due to host Penryn Athletic before a trip to Truro City on Saturday (3pm) followed by another home game with Porthleven on Wednesday night (6.30).

Penzance, who were in action at Helston Athletic last night, travel to Callington Town on Saturday (3pm).
