A BRUTAL attack on a horse in a field must have been made with an axe or a spade, her owner has said. The mare had to be put down after suffering cuts so deep they nearly severed her foot. Inspector Dave Meredith said nothing so far linked the attack near Callington with the mutilation of a stallion at Stithians in January. "We're still in shock, scared rigid," said the owner of nine-year-old mare TC – for The Chestnut – who did not want to be named. "It's broken my daughter's heart. She is devastated, we all are. "The vets said the injury was caused by a very hard and sharp implement which was propelled with force."
