Mousehole 4, Wadebridge Town 1

THE Seagulls booked their place in the semi finals of the Cornwall Charity Cup, where they will play Perranporth next month, with a fine win against at Trungle Parc on Saturday.

The tie was effectively over before half time, with Mousehole scoring three times without reply. The first goal came after eight minutes when a defence-splitting ball from Mark Vercesi resulted in Wade Brown chipping the oncoming keeper.

It could of been two five minutes later with Brown denied by the keeper and Vercesi heading against the bar from the resulting corner.

But Mousehole didn't have to wait long for their second when a reverse pass from Steve Burt fell to Brown who drilled it into the corner.

However, the best goal came five minutes before half-time when a superb passing move ended with Vercesi picking out Martin Moon who put in a great cross for Ezra Chapman to power home a header.

The second half was much more evenly contested, with Wadebridge coming into the game and were much more of a threat.

Former Bodmin Town man Luke Hodge did pull a goal back for the Bridgers, but it proved to be little more than a consolation as Mousehole completed the scoring 15 minutes from time. And it was the impressive Brown who chased down a defender and nicked the ball off him before lobbing the advancing keeper to complete a deserved hat-trick.

The victory puts the Seagulls in good heart for this Saturday's Throgmorton League Cup quarter final at home to Saltash United (2.30).

Mousehole: D King; M Moon, O Barrett, W Quinn, M Trevail, S Stevens, S Burt, M Vercesi, E Chapman, W Brown, K Turner. Subs: S Winnan (for Moon), J Simmonds (for Brown).
