NATIONAL school league tables published today have revealed the best and worst performing secondary schools in Cornwall.

The data reveals figures for the percentage of pupils who obtained five or more GCSEs grade A*-C, including English and Maths.

The tables also show what percentage of pupils made expected progress in English and Maths, the percentage obtaining the English Baccalaureate and the percentage who achieved A*-C in English and Maths.

Their publication has provoked a strong reaction from teachers in Cornwall. Earlier this month, the head teachers at five secondary schools in south east Cornwall spoke out, stating that the tables do not give a true reflection of a school’s performance.

The national average for pupils obtaining five or more GCSEs grade A*-C, including English and Maths, is 56%.
