THE Ritz was rocking at Dan and Jon Levine's big bash for ShelterBox.
Dan is more often seen as one of the Ritz's door security, but having experienced the work of ShelterBox at first hand the brothers were determined to do something practical, especially following the Phillipines' calamity.
On a peaceful, full-moonlit night, people flocked to the Penzance venue for a brilliant evening of entertainment and fun. Ry Spencely's warm sounds set the mood and it never dropped all night.
The featured live artists were two incredible pedal loop experts, the bill-topper and whirlwind of energy The Petebox, and local hero Mikey Grey with his double-necked bass/rhythm guitar and amazing supporting guitarist.
But not least in the audience's eyes was Dan's own solo spot with his smoochy piano playing and utterly outrageous lyrics – Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' will never recover.
An auction of prizes helped swell the funds and Ry kept the crowd dancing until the early hours.
Funds are still coming in but the total raised for ShelterBox won't be far short of £4,000, a great evening and fantastic effort by all concerned.
