Pubs scoop double at brewery awards

TWO St Ives' pubs are celebrating after scooping top honours at St Austell Brewery's Tribute Estate Awards.

The awards recognise landlords, landladies, restaurateurs and hotel managers for their hard work, expertise and dedication.

The Pedn Olva Hotel was named Accommodation House of the Year (Managed), while the Lifeboat Inn picked up the award for Best Turnaround Pub (Managed) after posting a huge increase in custom achieved in 2013.

The annual awards were held in Newquay and were hosted by Cornish comedian Kernow King.

A total of 18 awards were handed out in categories around the quality of food and drink, accommodation, customer service, training and marketing.

There were also special awards for managers and tenants of the year.
