TWO men from Newlyn hit the road this week – as they take part in Channel 4's reality TV show Coach Trip.
Engaged couple James Kosa and Darren Jones joined six other couples who set off on Monday for a trip through Belgium, Luxembourg and Italy, before heading west to enjoy the sunny delights of the Mediterranean coastline all the way along to Marbella, under the watchful eye of international tour guide Brendan Sheerin.
As well as visiting such sights as Granada's Alhambra Palace and the Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona, James, 29, and Darren, 27, will also get to bridge-swing, play golf, flamenco dance and have a go at making Belgian chocolate with the other couples.
At the end of each day, the group will gather and the pairs will vote for the couple they would like to leave the coach.
The couple with the most votes receives a yellow card and if you get two, this becomes a red card, meaning they are off – to be replaced by a new couple.
Filming is now over and everyone is back in the UK. James told The Cornishman: "Our favourite parts of the trip would have to be seeing parts of Europe we wouldn't have got round to doing.
"France never really appealed to us, but going into the Alps one day was truly amazing ... apart from the arguing and fighting that took place that day.
"The hotels were amazing ... and a special shout out to Brendan.
"He was amazing, and always on our side. He made sure myself and the other grumpy morning people had a coffee stop, even if it meant pulling over at some random service station.
"Darren and I both agree that it was one of the most enjoyable times of our lives and are so grateful to share that with each other."
The latest series of Coach Trip started on Monday and is being screened every weekday at 5.30pm on Channel 4.
