CONCERN has been expressed about a missing, Victorian, north-facing pointer arrow once embedded in a paving slab on Penzance promenade.

Local resident Linda Camidge said: "There has been no sign of it since the storm damage three weeks ago.

"It would be terrible to think of this pretty little bit of Penzance history having gone the same way as the cannon that used to be outside the library.

"Cormac has said it knows nothing and hasn't seen it but I am hoping it's safe in a stacked paving slab or perhaps even just covered by sand or kelp and not visible."

The pointer is dated 1897 and used to be located toward the western end of the prom, opposite Alexandra Gardens.
