FLOOD alleviation works will start next week at an area on the outskirts of Penzance.
Chyandour, on the road into the town, suffered serious flooding by the Chyandour Brook in February 2003, October 2006 and, most recently in November 2012.
The project is divided into a programme of works at five locations in Chyandour, starting on February 10 and expected to finish by the early part of the summer.
Some disruption is likely and the Environment Agency will be putting up display boards describing what will be happening and when.
The project team has also met affected homeowners, landowners and businesses to discuss the proposals.
Christabel Webb, from the Environment Agency, said: "The floods across the South West have reminded us how devastating flooding can be to people and their homes and livelihoods.
"This project will reduce flood risk to people, homes and businesses in Chyandour by the summer."
