THE views of hundreds of local businesses will be canvassed by West Cornwall MP Andrew George on everything from government regulation to apprenticeships.

Mr George's consultation in his St Ives constituency will take place this month ahead of a meeting with Business Secretary Vince Cable, MP, in the new year.

He is seeking views on government regulation, banking and banking reform, staff recruitment, apprenticeships, government business initiatives (such as business improvement districts) and how the Government can help small businesses.

Mr George said: "I am keen to ensure that businesses across West Cornwall and the Scillies share in the economic growth and maximise the opportunities of government support and deregulation.

"It is vitally important that businesses in west Cornwall capitalise on the opportunity of economic recovery. That is why I am consulting with local businesses to build upon an agenda."

Well said Twinscrew! As for Andrew George, he's admitting that even though he's an MP and so representing his community, he doesn't actually know what they want ... ummmm ... Bet he still votes for the 11% pay rise. Bleddy wasters the lot of them. DS

The best way government can help businesses is to keep it's nose out, look at any government department and you will find examples of waste, inefficiency, overmanning and just general incompetence. Governments don't create jobs, employers do, best they cut restrictions on employers and they don't need a meeting with useless Vince to do that.
