THE FUNERAL has taken place at Treswithian Downs Crematorium, Camborne, of Betty Pearce Care, of Tregear Farm, Praze, who died at Helston Community Hospital, aged 86.

Betty was born on January 29, 1927. She grew up in Crowan.
Aged 3 the family went to live at Glebe Farm, where her younger sister, Shirley, was born.
She was a founder member of Praze Young Farmers' Club. On October 12, when Praze YFC held its 75th anniversary celebrations, Betty was invited.
During the war, Betty recalled how they cycled everywhere, including from Crowan to Hayle every Saturday for a dance.
She served as an air raid warden; as they had the only phone in Crowan, her father was also a warden.
Betty attended Praze chapel and enjoyed meeting her friends after to walk together on a Sunday evening.
She could recall a trip to a bull sale at Reading during the war, the trains were packed with troops and bombs were dropped.
Betty married Yeoman on November 22, 1949, moving to live at Carthew Villa to farm a smallholding at Carthew.
Vivian was born in 1950, the family moved to Tregear and Keith was born in 1954. They built up a herd of pedigree Friesians and founded Trepraze Pedigree Large White pigs. Betty was dedicated to farming all her life; she milked the cows from the age of 8 and later worked hard alongside her husband and two sons.
At harvest time she always provided a wonderful croust bread basket. Tregear Farm and her family were her life.
In 1982 her first grandson, Matthew, was born, followed by Adam in 1985; both grandsons have very happy memories of their times with granny and spending time at Tregear.
She encouraged them to keep bantams and regularly took them to poultry shows.
She enjoyed hearing about what they were doing and if they were attending a YFC competition or show, she would wait by the phone to hear how they had done.Yeoman died in 2005 and Betty continued to live at Tregear with Keith, remaining involved with the farm.
