A PENZANCE teenager has organised a concert to help send him on a charity trip to Central America.
Alex Waghorn, will travel to the remote corners of Costa Rica and Nicaragua with Raleigh International in October to work on social projects.
The 18-year-old, who has just finished his A-levels at Penwith College, will work in some of the most remote and underprivileged areas of the region to help provide basic facilities such as clean water and access to schools.
To help fund his ten-week voluntary trip Alex has organised the Raleigh Rhythms concert which will feature bluegrass band Blue Horyzon and singer Jack Curnow.
"It's going to be a great evening because these are such exciting bands," he said. "It's great to organise a fun night out for such a good cause."
As well as raising money for his trip, Alex aims to raise awareness of the important social and conservation work Raleigh International does.
The concert takes place at the Ritz on August 21 at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased from Morrab Studio or Beautique in Penzance.
