UNLOCKING Cornish Potential (UCP) has helped more than 900 youngsters into graduate jobs in Cornwall since it started and is aiming to double that figure in the next few years.
The organisation has grown so big since it began in 2004 that UCP graduates are now passing on the favour and hiring UCP graduates themselves.
And the company has just launched a new one stop shop website, which puts all of its resources in one place.
UCP's marketing, communications and events officer Jodie Hyatt said that UCP was the obvious choice for degree-qualified job- hunters.
She said: "UCP has been able to take away the risk for businesses hiring graduates. Up until 2008 to 2009 there was quite a substantial subsidy that went with it. Now graduates get a £1,200 training and mentoring package. It is great for them and great for their CVs. I just don't understand why a graduate would not want to use UCP."
UCP's new website, GradCornwall, aims to support students and graduates who are applying for jobs in Cornwall.
The site hosts jobs listings, videos and blogs as well as information on how to access UCP's courses.
Head of graduate recruitment, training and employability Nicky Luke said the website was an important tool.
She said: "The UCP programme was born out of the need to match ambitious graduates with progressive Cornish companies to fuel innovation, growth, creativity, competitiveness and economic prosperity in Cornwall. With more than ten years' experience of placing graduates with businesses, we've seen how taking on a graduate really does boost growth.
"On average, we've found turnover increases by well over £100,000 so we see GradCornwall as a crucial step to support and nurture the local economy.
"GradCornwall is the one stop shop for advertising and applying for graduate level jobs and careers in Cornwall.
"We'd urge anyone looking for a career in Cornwall, now or in the future to register."
The new site, which is funded by European Regional Development Fund and European Social Fund money, also offers advice on CVs, interview hints and information on how to access UCP's Stand Out From The Crowd employability course, which is a free two-week programme worth £1,500.
Unlocking Cornish Potential (UCP) is the Combined Universities in Cornwall's (CUC) graduate placement programme, which runs a number of schemes including the graduate placement scheme, Gateway, which allows graduates to be paid for doing work experience and the graduate business start-up programme.
More information on these schemes can be found on the website.
Graduates can register on the site at www.gradcornwall.co.uk and anyone who registers before July 20 will be entered into a competition to win two VIP tickets to Relentless Boardmasters Festival.
