Fish complaints

MARINE Management Organisation (MMO) inspectors have been criticised at a meeting of the Isles of Scilly Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority for opening mainland-bound boxes containing fish catches on St Mary's quay.

A complaint from another source has been received by the council chairman.

Robert Francis, chairman of the Fishermen's Association, which represents commercial operators, told the meeting such a practice could adversely affect the condition of the fish and said any inspection should take place before packing.
