ST IVES' Great Britain athlete Mesha Wardman has won the open Elite Legacy Iron Woman series for surf life saving.

The final leg was held at Portreath Beach in testing conditions, the culmination of a fantastic week for Mesha at the British Nationals, also at Portreath, where Mesha came away with three gold medals, seven silver and three bronze.

Last month Mesha, 18, was one of five members of Portreath SLSC selected to represent Great Britain in the European Youth Championships in Sweden.

And next week Mesha will fly out to Japan to compete for Great Britain's Surf Life Saving team in the Sanyo World Cup, followed by the World Championships in Australia in November.

In a recent radio interview Mesha took the opportunity to promote the sport and also appealed for help with funding both for herself and the GB team.

Anyone interested in sponsoring Mesha can contact her on 07900 218 335.
