ADMITTING to stealing a quantity of cosmetics worth £79 from Boots in Penzance, a 44-year-old man living in Plymouth told police he had been drunk and could not remember what he did with them, Truro magistrates heard.

Ryszard Dudziak, who had told officers he had drunk a bottle of vodka and two bottles of wine, pleaded guilty to the theft on January 29 and also to being drunk and disorderly in Penzance on January 25.

Alison May, for the CPS, said there was a European arrest warrant outstanding for him. He also had previous convictions in the UK.

Dudziak was given a conditional discharge for a year.
