REFUSING to stop using foul language towards police officers a 52-year-old Penzance man was arrested after he had been found drinking in a no-alcohol zone in the town.

Gary Taylor, of The Star Hotel, Penzance, pleaded guilty at Truro Magistrates' Court to being drunk and disorderly in Market Place on December 4. He had previous convictions.

Taylor, who claimed he had been assaulted by the police, was fined £110 and £105 costs and surcharge, but time he spent in custody awaiting court was taken into account in lieu of any payment.
