WEST Cornwall Golf Club's Harry Hall, 14, became one of the youngest winners of the Cornwall Junior County Championship when he was the only player in the 72-strong field to beat par over 36 holes on his home course at West Cornwall on Sunday, writes Peter Heyman.

Playing off a handicap of one, he opened with a level par gross 69 and went one better in the afternoon with a one under par round of 68 for a total of 137 that saw him to a two shot victory over nearest rival Justin Barnard, of Tehidy Park, with Adam Curtis, of Bude and North Cornwall, third on 144.

Harry also lifted the Under-16 scratch prize by a massive 13 shots from runner-up Sam Church (China Fleet) on 150, with Truro's Jake Finn third on 153.

Truro's Anvesh Kumar took the Under-18 handicap prize with a net total of 131 (67+64), but had to settle for the runners-up spot in the Under-16 net category behind West Cornwall's Noah Badcock on 126 (61+65).
