A ST Ives film-maker was given the Directors' Choice award at the Cornwall Film Festival awards.

Graham Gaunt was honoured for his film Dark Nights. The film was screened at the Lighthouse Cinema in Newquay as part of the three-day annual event, now in its tenth year.

Graham's work, filmed on location in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, captures images of the clear night skies over west Penwith and Scilly.

Festival director Tiffany Holmes said: "Graham's film stood out amid the 450 entries."

Graham has also recently completed a two-year photographic study of the St Ives Porthmeor Studios and Fisherman's cellar project.
