Boozers to be targeted

ALCOHOL misuse has been identified as a top priority by the man in charge of Devon and Cornwall Police. Tony Hogg, who was elected as the first police and crime commissioner for the force last month, said that he would target alcohol abuse after a night in Plymouth. He joined officers as they patrolled pubs and clubs in the city, and visited the city's CCTV control room, police station and custody suite. Mr Hogg said afterwards: "Alcohol misuse, for me, is way up at the top of the list of issues because of the damage it can do in terms of wider violence, the effect on children and the pressure it puts on the police service."
