A MOTORCYLIST is on the mend after being rushed to hospital in a critical condition after his bike collided with a car near St Ives last Wednesday evening.

The 26-year-old man, who lives and works locally, sustained serious injuries in the crash on the A3074 St Ives Road at Carbis Bay at around 6.25pm.

He was rushed to Treliske by road ambulance and immediately placed in intensive care.

Traffic officer PC Ian Hilton said: "His condition is still being described as serious but he is not in the intensive care unit anymore."

The driver of the car, a woman from the Hayle area, was in shock but did not go to hospital. The vehicles involved in the collision were a Yamaha 125 motorcycle and a grey Toyota Auris.

PC Hilton added: "The investigation is still ongoing but as yet nobody has been arrested or charged."

Anyone with information can contact police by dailing 101 and quoting log number 575 of December 19.
