A YOUNG girl was airlifted from Penzance to Bristol on Saturday evening after suffering serious burns.

The girl, from the Penzance area, was picked up from the cricket field at St Clare at around 8pm by a helicopter from RNAS Culdrose which was dispatched to the incident following a call from the ambulance service.

The girl was then airlifted 160 miles to Frenchay Hospital for treatment, a flight time of about 90 minutes.
