ARTISTS around west Penwith are inviting shoppers to come and grab some individual gifts at a special Christmas sale in Newlyn this weekend.

The annual festive sale is an opportunity to buy items made locally, including textiles, copperware, ceramics and cards, while enjoying some mulled wine and refreshments.

The sale runs on Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 5pm at the Cannery Studio in the town and the Newlyn Copperworks, which run the event with the Lincoln Kirby Studio.

The sale also features the work of guest artists. "It's a collective that comes together at Christmas to do a sale, said Sara Eckersley, one of the event's organisers.

"It's a great thing for Christmas – a chance to buy directly from people who live and work here. There's always a big range of stuff and it's all individual; it's an alternative to getting gifts from shopping chains."
