ARSON is suspected after a caravan was destroyed in an early morning fire in St Blazey. Twelve firefighters were scrambled to the blazing caravan in the garden of a house on Rose Hill at around 4am on Tuesday. Garden waste was also on fire when fire crews from St Austell and Fowey arrived at the scene. Matt Grubb, crew manager from St Austell's green watch, said it took firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using hose reels more than half an hour to put out the blaze, which had engulfed the garden. He said: "Some of the waste was up against the house and the fire could easily have spread to the house." Police have been alerted to the fire. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
